LEGATO SHRED LICK

Some folks 'round here might remember that the very first “Psycho Lick” uploaded to this page was something I salvaged from an old tape (June 1995; refer to Psycho Lick #1), recorded while I was practicing over an Infectious Grooves song in preparation for an audition with them (more details about that experience can be found HERE). For fun, for this installment of Psycho Licks, I'm adding another lick from this era—a pretty speedy legato passage! This blazing phrase is an example of alternating between two adjacent three-notes-per-string fingerings (via slides with the fret-hand's index finger), moving the same sequence to lower strings (each “new” string sounded by hammering “out of nowhere” with the fret-hand's middle finger). With the exception of the bent notes (raising G to G#), every single pitch in this puppy is pulled straight outta the E Mixolydian scale (E-F#-G#-A-B-C#-D). Enjoy!
