ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

“I checked out a couple of mp3s from this artist's site, and was simply amazed at how incredibly talented she was. With her very passionate and well-rehearsed vocals, Juliette Esper makes even your worst day seem like a beautiful walk in the park during spring, when the new life begins to take its shape and the weather is perfect outside. Sure this sounds like a little too much to believe, but after hearing the angelic voice of Juliette that's exactly how I felt.”

Juliette Esper is a singer and improviser from Dublin. Originally Russian nowadays she lives in Dublin and enjoys herself jazzing up Irish lads. “Jazz first of all for me represents freedom in music. I can finally be myself,” says Juliette and indeed it is amazing her confidence and ability to personalize old jazz standards in a unique, heart-warming and thrilling way.

Although she is always very feminine she is particularly sexy when you hear her sing a song like “Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be)” or “'Round Midnight.” She displays a lot of personality and vocal agility in her performance. There is something about the way she places a note somewhere in the middle of her throat and in back of her voice box goes right into your libido and says, “Hello there, big boy.” The songs were recorded at her birthday gig on the 3rd September 2002 and believe it or not it was the third time Juliette Esper performed as a jazz singer in her entire life. “It is the discovery of my life- I always loved jazz, but singing it I thought as something that requires special training. Now I realise that it must be just a part of you, your feelings and your honesty. Billie Holiday never took a jazz vocal technique course.”

Juliette did though; in 2000 she studies jazz improvisation with Louise Gibbs—one of the leading jazz impro tutors in England. When Juliette organised a workshop for her teacher in Dublin in summer 2002, Louise was shocked by the way Juliette's voice sounded—it changed, matured and only as a part of simple growing up—Juliette didn't sing in public for two years due to travelling and other reasons. This was a complete surprise!

“Singing for me is a way to open my soul to the world, to prove that looks can be deceiving but singing is something I just can't fake. I had to give it up for two years, but now I feel like I had to give up a part of myself.” says Juliette. Her singing is so intimate as if she is sharing her wildest secrets with you, her vocal presence is one of essence and honesty. Her stunning looks, her attitude and professionalism on stage capture your attention instantly. She has a live performance that leaves the audience haunted by her cherubic voice.

A true professional to the art.
